Important 1042-S Tax Document Updates

2023 1042-S Tax Documents are Available!

Log in to your Sprintax Calculus account and select 2023 at the top of the screen to get your 2023 1042-S tax form.

Note: 2023 will say "Locked" because the year is closed. You can still access your tax forms.


Please note: In January 2024, Harvard transitioned to Sprintax Calculus as our tax compliance system for international payees (non-U.S. individuals and entities). Visit our Sprintax Calculus page for more information and resources.

2023 1042-S Tax Documents are available ONLY through Sprintax Calculus:

For Electronic Distribution of 1042-S- If you have previously given consent for electronic distribution of your 1042-S tax document through Sprintax Calculus by February 1st, you should have received an email notification by March 15th, 2024 from Sprintax Calculus hutax@sprintax.com that your 2023 1042-S is now available for you to access.

The Sprintax Calculus portal can be accessed here Login - Sprintax Calculus. Proceed to the "Tax Forms" section under year 2023 (not current year 2024), to access your 2023 1042-S generated by Harvard. 

For Paper Distribution of 1042s to Foreign Entities or Select Individuals- If you did not previously consent to have your 1042-S tax document electronically distributed to you, you will instead receive a paper 2023 1042-S tax document mailed to your address on record. However, you can also obtain immediate access to your 2023 1042-S after March 4th, 2024, by activating your Sprintax Calculus record and providing Harvard with your e-consent upon login. 

Additional Information:

  • If you did not previously given consent to have your 2023 1042-S posted electronically, and you do not receive your paper 2023 1042-S by March 15th 2024, you can access your 2023 1042-S through Sprintax Calculus once you login and give your electronic consent
  • Your 1042-S may not reflect any changes your made to your information after December 30th, 2023. Amended 1042-S tax documents are not required for an incorrect mailing address
  • If you need a reprint of your 2022, 2021, or 2020 1042-S, please email FAD_IPTC@harvard.edu to request a reprint. A few things to remember:
  1. Please indicate “1042-S reprint” in the subject line of your email.

  2. Your email must include your full name (or entity name if not for an individual), HUID, the tax year(s) your request relates to, along the mailing address you wish your paper tax documents(s) to be mailed to.

  3. Tax documents cannot be electronically distributed, such as via email, unless you first give Harvard explicit consent for this in your request.

  4. Reprint requests take approximately 5 business days for processing, once a request is received.

  5. Please confirm whether you're truly meant to receive a 1042-S tax reporting document prior to emailing FAD_IPTC@harvard.edu to request a reprint.
